My 92 vette just killed itself today while I was driving. After coasting to the side of the road the car wouldn't start. The car turned over fine, and I believe I could hear the fuel pump running when the key was first turned on. After it sat for 10 min or so it started right up like it was nothing. As I drove away i drove away it sputtered and then it was fine. Yes I have plenty of gas... I can't get the car to have the problem occur again. It runs like nothing ever happened... Some problems with the car right now are a slight coolant leak (looking for it), oil pressure gauge works intermittently, analogue oil temp gauge doesn't work (digital works), and after a bit of a highway drive the service engine soon light comes on, then turns off before i can read the code. I think that's it. If anyone has any ideas they would be much appreciated. I'm willing to dig as deep as i have to if that means my car will actually drive.

well, you have to do the basics and start gathering info in order to paint a picture that shows you whats wrong.....
start with fuel pressure.
verify spark at different wires.
Look at the battery connections for loose cables, loose grounds. Check the harness grounds by the filter.
Most any sensor with a loose plug can stall an engine. Go thru what you can get to and check for loose plugs...
best guess is fuel filter. They will plug and kill the motor, then after sitting for a while the crud settles in the filter can and lets fuel flow again....for a while. Same thing will happen soon IF thats the problem. Pressure test will confirm.
Yes I agree that the fuel filter could be slightly clogged, but it runs too well otherwise. I don't think the problem is in the ignition system. I don't think it's a loose ground either because the car starts again after a few without moving. I feel like its electrical... I will check out all of the above though.

Ok. So i just pulled the codes off the car and got
1: C12 ( no codes)
4: H16 ( distributor Ignition system low resolution pulse) My opti-spark is less then 6 months old
9: H83 (???) i cant seem to find what this code means
Just a thought; my 92 was running great, then no start. Wait a while, start right back up. Have you replaced the ICM? Before you do, check the connector to the ICM. I put 2 on mine, and even though I don't remember the codes, I do remember "low resolution". I used something small to "spread" the metal prongs inside the ICM connector so I knew there was good contact, not a single hiccup since. Good luck!
