I am hearing the LT1 rev limiter is at approx 5800, then I hear the hot cam increases the red line to approx 6300? is the previous statement correct? do I need a new tach that will tach 6300? how are the rest of you set up? I've got a 92 stock computer, and and automatic. the engine isn't built up yet, so I don't know how it will so with the rev limiter...not to mention, I think the auto shifts at 5400... am I looking at a lot of unused power? Thanks?
Re: Lt1 rev limiter vs. hotcam red line? (R Cook 92)
The motor is out of the car, the entire thing is being rebuilt. the hot cam kit is really the only BIG upgrade... I am rebiulding the bottom end, but I had planned on stock stuff, I need to get it to the machine shop before I decide if I will need to bore it... I just want to hear that I won't need a chip... or a tach. Will I still make plenty more power than my stock LT1 on the cam and rr without a higher rev limiter... I drive it daily, so I have to keep the motor reliable...
