Default cat back or just mufflers?

What would I lose if I just put on flowmaster mufflers instead of the whole cat back system? Any difference in sound?

Probably only sound, doubt it would be much difference in horsepower/torque. I've been told the biggest bottleneck in the stock exhaust system is the stock exhaust manifold. Headers = best exhaust mod, but of course usually have to go with after market catback and new cats also w/ headers and the price gets up there then...

I went with the muffler eliminators, polished stainless LT1 tips, sounds great, and got rid of the garbage cans hanging down there, looks very clean underside now,and all for a whopping 125 bucks, keep the cats for that torque factor, got the Borla sound for a fraction of the price, U cant go wrong. Good luck  :chevy

Weight for one. The stock exhaust is one bear of a unit. I don't know the flow # for a cat back vs. mufflers but most of the cat backs have substantial flow increases vs. stock.
