code 43 .... '93 C4
I'm not getting a SES light, but when I hooked up the Diacom, it found this trouble code. The previous owner had the opti replaced in May '02 (I have the receipt to prove it). What would cause this and what does it mean? Aside from no wanting to idle in the morning, it runs fine.

For '92, Code 43 is a knock sensor. '93 is probably the same. I replaced both knock sensors in mine after getting an intermittent code 43, and that fixed the problem. If the SES light never comes on, check the receipts to see if they replaced a knock sensor and forgot to clear the codes. I believe the code should clear automatically after the car has been started 50 times without the code being reset by the condition that caused it (bad knock sensor in this case). You can also clear it yourself. However, if the SES light isn't coming on I wouldn't worry about it; it's just an old code stored in the computer, and doesn't have anything to do with how the car is currently running unless the SES light is on.

knock sensor??? I don't understand what you mean.
Diacom shows code (43) to be the Electronic Spark Control Malfunction. Maybe it's just an old code which necessitated the opti to be changed. I'll pull the battery cable off to clear the code and recheck.
