Had JUST finished adjusting lash tonight back was screaming (remote starter busted so do it by hand).......went to stand up banged my head on the hood-hard
Which in turn-
Knocked my big baller super duper Harbor Frieght drop light....which has a flourescent in it off the underside of the hood .
Long story short landed on a rocker and exploded all over the place. =D>
Not just shards but teeny grains everywhere. Like glassbead
Trying to convince myself I dont have to pull the intake off this stuff was EVERYwhere
Honestly I have to say this light has taken a beating...moreso than any other Ive tried. Damn clear tube or glue holding it together musta gave way came apart in pieces
I use an ordinary cage style light with a 100 watt bright white spiral bulb in it. It gets dropped bulb gets broke, maybe, put in another bulb & go back to work. I had one of Craftsmans handy dandy rechargeable lights with a gazillion leds in it. I went the same way as my Craftsman timing light & my Caftsman soldering gun. I will never buy anything Craftsman again, their stuff is on a par with Harbor Freight, and that isn't being fair to HF.
I still have a cage style, too, with a rough service bulb. A Craftstman retractable (which doesn't really retract anymore ). If anyone's found a good one, speak up!
The only flourescent droplight I ever got any kind of reliable use from was a Snap-On light I owned a long time ago. Now that was a rugged droplight, that withstood a lot of abuse daily in a shop.
I picked up the same HF POS the OP mentions, and the first one didn't work at all. Took it back and exchanged it, and I'm not at all sure it's going to hold up for long. But, it was only $10 I believe. However, I miss my old Snap-On light, as it was about a foot long and skinny enough to snake into just about anywhere I needed light.
