There is a common spot where the ground on the cuircut board becomes un-soldered. Take out the cluster, and take the back off. In the upper right hand corner youll see about 8 (not positive) terminals in a row. Inspect them for cracks, and burns in the solder, and re-solder if needed. The ground in question is the 1st one on the left, of the row of 8, but check them all. My dash was completely gone, and I re-soldered 3 of these terminals. Now everything works ecept the tach cause of the broken LCD. Hope this helps. h

There is a guy on ebay selling replacement LCD's . I bought all 3 and replaced a couple of years ago. It's easy and like having a new cluster.

If you have it laying face down on a table, and you take the back off its in the upper right corner. I will see if I can find a pic. h
hi hemivett. Thanks for the link. about 50% think we could do it. but the other 50% scarred . We LIVE SOMWHAT NEAR Specmo might take it there. but we have to take it out to give them hmmm? seems getting it out is 50%
Still stumped why they lighted up when battery was not strong enough to start our 85 . Anyhow thanks for all Your knowledge Lucky
Dont be afraid, its pretty simple, and if you cant fix it then you can take it in. One of the biggest things is how you solder. What you want to do is, heat the terminal til you see the solder melt, then hit it with new. You only have to take off the first circuit board to do this fix. (If all the LCDs are working) After you get the screws out, carefully pry it apart. What will be holding is the white connector, with the pins going through it, with a little effort they just pull apart, no locks, or anything. h
