My Vette is at JUST CORVETTES in St Charles, Mo getting the 4.11's installed. I made the appointment like 3 weeks+ ago. I took it there, 3 hour trip Saturday the 1st. It was suppose to be ready for me to pick up Friday the 7th. Now they are saying Next Mon-Tues! This is crazy!
They have had a bunch of reasons why it wasn't & isn't finshed. They even tried to blame a guy that doesn't even work there anymore. I just hope & pray they set the thing up right!
Now they tell me the mechanics brother killed himself and won't be back in until tomorrow. Shame to hear, but is it true? If it would have been done on time this wouldn't even have been an issue. I'm getting :mad
DONT FEEL BAD I SENT MY car for an engine transplant & was told it would be ready in 2 weeks. well it took 4 months!wtf! :cuss he only had my car a week to put in my 375's. good luck!
Hmmm....I've bought parts from them before with only a couple hitches. Drove the car up their to get a new clear top and they neglected to tell me before I left that it needed to be aligned and adjusted. Got it on, but it rattled all the way home and then until I took it off and tightened up the mounts on the top. I also ordered a rear spindle from them and gee they didn't know that not all C4 spindles are the same. They took care of the problem. Haven't had any work done there, so no experience there. Was gonna see about picking up a set of used half shafts the end of the month when I drive through there, but now??? Will watch and see. Hope it turns out okay.
Wow James, I don't want to plant the seed of doubt, but that is a helluva lot of excuses. I hope what they said is true, and they didn't jack something up! It seems another member had an interesting experience with them also. I'll say a prayer for ya' (not that I'm a bible-thumper or anything). Good luck, and keep us posted. :seeya
It has been my experience that whenever a mechanic says 2 days, it means 3 weeks. And whenever they say it will be a week, it'll be 2 months, and so on. I guess some people may have more luck than me, but never ever expect to get the car back on the day they initially say it will be ready.
mash557, check with Contemporary Corvette (link on my site) for those used half-shafts. I've gotten new and used parts from them with very good results and decent prices.
They called and said it is ready! Weird one day they say one thing and now it is done! I'm good with it, I just hope its right. I guess they sent the center section out for assembly and got it back last night at 5:30 and put it back together today! It is suppose to be on its way home to me right now! Of course I had to pay for that, but its not much more than me renting a trailer and going to get it myself! Should be here around 10 or so tonight. I'll let you guys know what the outcome is!!! I hope its good!
OK James, take a deep breath, exhale slowly, and think positive. It sounds like your car will be home tonight.
Good Luck
MP
Thanks! Was just a little frustrating feeling like I was getting :bs over the
phone. I just wish I didn't have the valvetrain problem so I could really go rip on it tonight!

I gotta agree, and the same goes for most other service oriented items these days (service repairmen, cable installation, etc, etc). What is so frustrating to me, is that I design and develop custom computer application systems. Let me miss a deliverable date and my customers go ballistic.
