I have a 93 corvette that will not start. There is power and everything seems tone working except it doesn't make a sound when I turn the key.
I had problems before with the battery dying randomly. I have recharged the battery, put a new battery in and it will still die sometimes. Now even though the battery is good and charged it will not start. Not even the clicking sound it use to make. Can you help?
Is the security light on or flashing when trying to start? if it is the VATS is preventing the car from starting, though I don't know if it would keep the engine from spinning over
First make sure your battery is fully charged. It's the amps that start the car and not the volts. Take your battery to an auto parts store and have it load tested. If your security light is flashing when trying to start the car it will be disabled for a specified period of time because of a timer. So, wait about 5 minutes and put the door key in and unlock the door, this will turn off the security system. You should be able to start your car. If not ensure all connections at the battery, starter, and grounds are tight. I'm not saying your starter is bad, but I had an intermittent starting problem, rebuilt the starter for about 40 dollars and the car starts fine now. So if you determine it's the starter don't buy a replacement. Disassemble it and check the copper contacts and plunger before wasting money. If needed I can look up where I got the parts from. If you don't have a factory service manual, buy one. Definitely the best resource for troubleshooting and getting to know your car without dishing out lots of cash for someone else to repair.
