Years ago we had 93 octane in Oklahoma, but for along time now the best we have is 91.Would it be safe to run E85,or at least mix it half and half or something like that for added octane??

I wouldn't run it in mine.
91 octane will work just fine though.
There are some that are using E85 though.
But you need to make sure your car is setup for it (fuel system, tune, etc).
It is not recommended for a completely stock 1996 car.
I just switched back to premium after 3 years on the alky. You may need newer injectors and probably a Walbro 255 pump. . I already had thee pump and Bosch IIIs in mine . You need to tune the ECM to give it around 25% more fuel under most conditions. Trial and error here. I really liked but the cost has gone up so its no longer cheaper for me. Its also 6 or 7 miles to the nearest pump. Premium is 2 blocks away.
Dont believe the crap that every component in your fuel system will decompose. Its just not true.
The good part is, you almost cant get spark knocks with it. It burns clean. Plugs stay clean. Oil looks clean after 3 or 4000 miles.
If I drag race this summer, I will probably switch back to it, just a chip change for me.
