I have done a search and cant find anything on anyone using nitrous on c4 lt1 corvettes. what kind of results? anyone with dyno or track numbers? is it to much for the d36? Is the auto trans strong enough ? any info would be great.
it is general understanding that 150 shot is about as much as a stock motor will take, it will add about 125rwhp to your baseline and give you a full second or slightly more in the quarter mile. the tune must be dead nuts on and you should run a colder plug TR6 NGK and gap it down slightly .035", make sure your cooling system is working properly and your fuel system is clean and running strong. a intank upgrade is recommended on anything over 100 shot but in my opinion I would upgrade the intank because it is likely tired and you don't want to mess around with nitrous going lean.. it historically ends poorly.
Thanks Chris for your time and info, but unfortunately I know the info you gave me. what I dont know is what I asked about in my 1st post. I have a mustang with many mods done to it including n2o. But im seriously looking into a c4 and want to know how far i can push the rest of the drivetrain. And how much power others are making and or track times. Thanks

150 Zex wet kit here.....no numbers on the dyno yet, nor updated track times. I have the ZF6 with the d44. I used to run nitrous on one of my mustangs and it seemed that nitrous and my automatic never quite got along, I would sty loser to the 100 shot range if it were me.
man it all depends... the D36 is a weak link for the auto cars and the 4L60E tranny is nice but isn't made for a lot of power in stock form. I would say that the tranny would need some beefing up if you want it to live behind nitrous torque and the D36 should be swapped for a D44. but you will still break rear spindles as that is the next weak link for cars set for max drag strip action. just have to figure out how to launch fast and smooth. any wheel hop and something is gonna pop with a lot of power on these cars.
if you haven't bought one, I would be looking at 6 speed cars.. cheaper to swap trannies then rear ends generally and you could throw a TH400 in it and solve all the tranny issues but lose your over drive.
why don't you give us some more specific information on how you would use the car what your budget is etc.. that will help to answer your question realistically. hard to beat mustangs for track cars.. why not just pop an LS3 in the mustang? 8.8 rear end in those with axles and a diff are pretty hard to beat and the factory suspension setup is strong and awesome for drag racing. I would not be looking into a corvette if my primary focus was drag racing just too much to workaround to go REALLY fast.
Thanks guys for all your input. its looking like a 6spd car would be best for a few reasons.
your right chris mustangs are pretty tough in the drivetrain dept. But I have had mustangs for the last 10 yrs and just wanted something a little more refined, but something that can hang with the new cars on the street. (and then some) lol. my main reason for the car is street with 1 or 2 times a year go to the dragstrip and auto-x or a track day. my budget is moddest im in the 10-12k toy car section for a reason. (No offence to anyone) corvettes are very nice cars thats why im looking.
