Default '94 coolant temp sensor part number?

I replaced the coolant sensor in the water pump in my '94 with AC Delco #213-4396, supposedly the right part but am getting an SES (DTC #14 and 15 - Engine Coolant Temperature Sensor Circuit Voltage Low and Engine Coolant Temperature Sensor Circuit Voltage High) and non-varying temp so I suspect either this new sensor was defective or this isn't the right part number. Does anyone have the correct AC Delco part number?

Many thanks!

John

Did you follow the map on FSM 6E3-A-45 (in the second book)?

There is a chart there that shows temp vs resistance for the CTS for checking them.

ETA I have GM PN 25037332 in my notes. Have your parts guy pull that one up to look at. Don't buy it just on my notes.

Thanks for the reply. No, I haven't checked the map as I'm getting a flat line reading (142°) no matter what.

I did just check my pdf of the Parts Fiche and it references AC Delco 213-77 for '92-'96 but I was hoping someone who had changed their sensor out could tell me if that's correct before I buy another. The Parts Fiche doesn't have a picture but another picture I found makes #21377 appear to be the sensor that fits in the passenger side of the engine rather than the water pump.

Yes, it is the sensor screwed into the front of the water pump. John

The sensor in the pump is ACD 213-928 and I always thought that to be for the ECM. Your DTC's seem to reflect that also.

Your original purchased part number was an Internet purchase by you or across the counter in a "walk-up" environment?

Thanks for the PN.

That's not a number I had ever seen and although the part details say "Engine: 5.7l v8 gas ohv distributor-breakerless naturally aspirated sfi electronic fi mfi, Trim: base" which of course is my '94, with the Fitment Notes saying "Under plenum - Used for clusters w/oil gage & lgt comb - 2-way male", I probably wouldn't have bought it so I really appreciate your answer.

And yes, my original PN was an Internet purchase.
