Can't stand the search function, and couldn't find what I was looking for, but has anyone here switched from the 700r4 to a zf6 in an early c4? What all was involved including modifications to the car and price? Yes, I know it would be cheaper to just buy a stick shift car, but I've got too much time and money in this one already to do that.
Thanks
Joe

Well... time to start melting the old Master Card...
expect 1500.00 to 2000.00 for the box, used... and you will need the bell housing... and clutch... and the transmission tunnel needs to be modified... and the pedals.
I would look closely at the Richmond 6spd...
either way, your not gonna have much change from 4000.00...
Re: Automatic to 6 speed conversion, info wanted (SlowJoe)
Another thing you might want to consider is the th400/Gear Vendors conversion I just completed. I love it. It cost about $4000. But now if I do manage to wreck my th400 (and most people seem to think it is awful hard to do that) a rebuild is only about $500. It is a way cool way to autocross too. You can shift so fast by just pushing the button to engage the overdrive in any gear if you want just a slightly higher (or lower if you are already in overdrive) gear. I have a page on my web site with some details on my conversion.

Looks like a pretty sweet setup, but I really miss having a clutch. I've beaten a lot of sticks with my auto, but it's just more fun for me to drive a manual.
Re: Automatic to 6 speed conversion, info wanted (SlowJoe)
Mine is a manual. Valve body that is. I have to do all my shifts manually but there is no clutch to gum up the works, hahahaha. I know what you mean. Clutches certainly are fun.

Not bad so far. Anyone seen a write up on the whole process?
Sure have! Right here on this very Forum! :D
Do a Search for "tommelton". There were at least 3 main threads, with several sub-threads (like this one). *Lots* of good material, like how much to have ground off your Camaro LT1 flywheel, where to find adjustable fork pivots, etc. Invaluable info for gearheads! :yesnod:
