I have an 1987 L98 with a plastic device just behind the AC Drier lines, on the engine, slightly right of center and 1/3 down. It has vacuum lines running to it and snaps in. Mine is thrashed. I would like to know what it is and where I can get a new one.

Reason: Added link to picture
The easiest way is to download photo shop.
Upload your pictures to it, then to load the picture to your post.
Look where it says image links, go down to IMG code and click the link to thr right of it and it should say copied.
Go to yout post and click the "insert image" icon that looks like mountians and sun. I always remove the first http:\\ right click and paste your image.
with Ray this is part of the AIR system (air injection reaction)it's an emission device that using a pump forces air into exaust manifold and cat .the diverter valve and solenoid diverts air flow into exaust plumbing. You can find it in a corvette salvage since this item is discontinued now. Some guys remove air pump and air system from engine bay,but if you are in CA i think you have to pass visual inspection and sniff...

AIR Switching and Divert Valves - I also think you are correct. The folks in California think removing this will cause a massive death of the population. Of course 13 million Illegals with out licenses and dumpy cars - that is on the protected spiecies list.
Any ideas who might have one is good shape?? Junk yards – right?

Some guys here say that they have air stuff lying down in their garage, maybe someone wants to get rid of that stuff couse they live in a non emission state.Other source ebay
You can't buy the valves any more. I had a bad solenoid and bought one for a non-Corvette and moved it to my car.
The two solenoids are different (one is black and one is gray). The connectors are keyed differently and only the gray connector will plug into the gray solenoid and only the black connector will plug into the black solenoid.
