I changed mine and added an adjustable fpr turned FP down to 39psi and
the combo picked up 3th's in the 1/4. Those were with Comp roller tip 1.6's, I am going to upgrade to a full roller soon. So maybe you could get a little more due to less friction on a full roller. But I was very happy with the combo I did!
Did you have any problems with too much lift/ piston clearance? Were there any ill-effects from this mod?

NO... I just installed the new rockers, & springs.. also had to cut the drip tabs off the valve covers... but no prob w/valve clearence.. Be sure to use the correct springs..
Well I have Heard from Chevy Tech reps that a stock LT1 will need the 1.5 ratio rockers for safe and optimal valve clearance and peformance gains,If Ya got ported Heads or HP heads ,well then the ratio changes, springs and rockers will change then, but as far as stock goes...1.5...... :chevy

The 96, LT4 came from the factory with 1.6 rockers.

Not true. Use self aligning rockers or use hardened pushrods and guideplates with non-self aligning rockers. CC pro magnums are the best for the cost.
Like Red96 said you'll have to trim the drip tabs in the valve covers. Going to 1.6 just gives a little more lift to the cam, not anywhere near enough to cause interference with a stock cam. It's an excellent mod if the LT1 is already breathing well and has headers or less restrictive exhaust. You will see gains.
Ok, it seems to be a simple mod, that should work with my exaust (no cats, bought it that way) How difficult is it to do with the heads on the car? Any special tools that I would need? Any PROM changes required or different fuel pressure?

It's not that difficult to do with the heads on the car, just a little time consuming.
The only special tool I needed was a valve spring compresser. I used a loaner from Autozone. However, if you have access to another valve spring compresser get it, the one from AZ is a piece of crap.
