Default Ignition module????

Can you install the ingniton module with out losing the distrubuter like the manual says????? I am getting a code 42 and I was going to replace this first since it is $15 then move on to the EST which is $70????

Brett, I'm assuming you meant to say, "can you replace the ignition module without 'loosening' the distributor." Yes to both that and losing the distributor. You simply take the cap off with a 1/4" socket on a long extension. Carefully move it to the side without mucking up the wires and such. Then take off the rotor, 2 phillips screws. Then you will see the module held down to the base of the inside of the distributor by 2 1/4" bolts. Un-bolt it and carefully unplug the plugs from the 5 pin side and then carefully slide the module away from the 2 pin side. The plugs are very brittle because of all the heat they have to endure. Reverse procedure to install new module. Make sure you put the silicone grease on the base of the module to help dissipate the heat from it. You should get some with the new module. Good Luck.
