Default Blinking Climate Control

Has anyone cured a blinking Climate Control problem.

Mine occasionally blinks its numbers and occasionally it goes completely dark, then will come back on when I push one of the buttons.

Any advice is appreciated.

Jake

The "simple" fix is to open up the control box and clean the card edge connector with a pencil erasure. Even if it has gold plated contacts, they are electroplated so the erasure only removes oxidation from the connector.

I have a similar problem but it's due to warpage of the card edge connector. I just got some small angle iron and intend to try to straighten the connector.

Your 86 may be the same as my 88.

Mine would go bonkers and do the same thing. The buttons were stuck and would only work if you pushed real hard.
I took mine apart and found  Coke or Coffee  all in the buttons, on the contacts the switch buttons etc.

Took it completely apart, used a wet cloth to remove the residue from the switch contacts. Cleaned the rubber switches, did the eraser trick to the card edge connector. Put it all back together after it was all dry. It now works 95% of the time. the 5% is it goes dark occasionaly, it still functions you just don't know what is selected. I've found if I press on the two fan switches the display and everything comes back.

Much cheaper than replacing it.
