C4 Rims
Hey I have a question for anyone who may know. I'm wanting to upgrade the rims on my 84. I've done a lot of research on the funky offsets and use of wheel adapters and whatnot. However I did see that the C6 Z06 style rim, which is the style I want is offered with a 40mm offset. My 84 has a 38mm. Before I spend the money I guess I wanted to ask if those 2mm make that much of a difference or not? Any suggestions are much appreciated! Thanks!

2mm is 0.08 inches. It will not make a difference.

The C6 Z front wheels are 18x9.5 with 40mm offset. I have 6 of them for my race car. If you go with a 275/35/18 or a 285/35/18 tire you will not throw off the speedo at all, and they fit nice on the wheel.

No particular cause for concern if it's the tire choice the OP makes.

Yes I was looking at 18" rims. I have the stock 16"s on it now. The plan was to put a lower profile tire on to try to keep the overall circumference basically the same to try to avoid that problem. I'm somewhat new to customizing cars so I'm still learning lol. My uncle did the same thing with his 95 when he put his rims on and didn't have any problems, so I've been getting some advice from him, but the weird offsets he didn't know too much about since his are more 'normal' than mine.

Mine are off a stock 02', and have a 1" spacer in front, and a 3/16 in the rear. Prbly could have done without the rear spacer, but went with these guys recommendations here on the forum. They fit well, and look nice, but tire dealers wont touch the car with spacers, (a little heads up to those considering this route) I really like the 5 spoke look, but wish I could have afforded to have them without spacers.......To answer your Q though 2mm isnt nothing to worry about......As far as tires go anyway! h

Go here......The bottom of the page has a tire size calculator....all you have to do is find the right OD of an 18" tire and your Speedo will not be changed
