LT1 HUB Install (automatic tranny)
Guys
My goal is to replace the Frt cover seals and the water pump gear. The Harmonic Balancer is removed. Now I'm at a point in which I'm planning to remove/install the HUB. I have the LT1 Hub/balancer puller tool and this is my first attempt on removing/installing the hub.
This 93LT1 is an automatic. My concern is how do I prevent the crankshaft from rotating when I install the hub?
If it was a manual transmission I"d put into gear. But since it's an automatic, would I have to access the fly wheel and bind it to prevent the crank shaft from moving? Is this procedure necessary when installing the hub?
I have the GM Service manual and no where in it does it have guidelines to prevent the crank shaft from rotating.

I have a 93 6 spd so I have not done this myself but I would remove the dust cover on the front of the bell housing and clamp a set of vice grips on the flexplate so that it touches something that will not let it move when you loosen the hub bolts. Or even better stick a screw driver thru one of the holes in the flexplate. Hopefully someone will chime in here who has an auto and has done this.
You are going to also need a water pump install tool or something like this to install the new wp seal.
