I needed to tighten intake manifold bolts because of a coolant leak RR corner. Just so I could see, I made the dufus move of cutting through the (foil-fiberglass) insulation around the EGR tube to the intake. I see now its not so easy to find a new part. I did stop the leak, but trying to re-wrap this HOT area has me concerned. I don't want mine to be the next C4 on fire. Thanks to every one. Is it friday night? 86 coupe, 19K 4+3, I love this car.

Mine was in tact but it was getting loose and frayed, so I wrapped the whole pipe with header wrap left over from a job I did on a Z28. I put it directly over the top of the original sleeving.
The velcro type covers will bake from the heat. Here's what mine looked like when I took it off:
Header wrap was the answer. I used stainless steel hose clamps to hold it in place:
I have a new velcro type cover that I may put over the header wrap. The problem is where the EGR tube goes near the spark plug wire heat shield. There's no clearance there now with the extra bulk of the header wrap.
I have a problem with the way the velcro cover is made. The velcro is on the "wrong" side and the seam shows. I think you could turn the cover "upside down" and punch a new hole in the top for the EGR temperature switch and get a cleaner looking installation.
