Need to replace a couple of steel brake lines on my '86, does anyone know what diameter I should get - is it 6mm or something else?
You don't mention specific pipes that you intend on doing but I believe you'll find the majority of the pipes 3/16 BUT I believe at every connection point you'll find the it's got an M10X1 ISO/BUBBLE nut. The flare on these in NOT a conventional double flare but an ISO/BUBBLE flare that requires a different flaring tool. You'll either need to salvage your fittings or find new, I don't recall seeing lengths of pre-made with ISO/BUBBLE already supplied. Now if either of the pipes at the master cylinder are involved the fittings/nut are dramatically different to avoid accidentally swapping the connection.
You can buy an inexpensive bar type flaring tool that will do ISO/BUBBLE and they're much easier to accomplish than the double-inverted flare.
