rebuild

If I pulled and broke down the motor how much should I pay for a rebuild? If someone else does it. 1990 L98.

Stock rebuild shoud be able to be done for under 2k depending on where you are. Dont need anything exotic

Yea I got a slight knock coming from the motor and im pretty mechanically inclined. So I can pull it and break it down just dont have the know how or special tools to build it back up.

If you are mechanically inclined and have the know how to take an engine apart the rebuild should be a snap. There are multiple videos and books showing you how. Special tools can be rented or bought for far less than paying someone else to do your wrenching.

Get the machining done and have the bare short block assembled ( the techy part ) by the shop,
then bolt it back together yourself
Installing a cam / timing set , bolting on the heads is the easy stuff
