Default 93 a/c

Ok how many a/c experts out there today. How can i tell what freon is in my 93? The code shows low freon and it came with 12 in 93 but how do i tell if it was changed to 34? I had someone say to look for a type of valve? Well there are colored plastic caps on the fittings does this indicate that it was upgraded? When i disconnected the battery and hooked it back up again i turned on the a/c and the clutch came on and off a few times before stopping. Thats when i checked the code and got a 49 i think it was a 49 anyway it showed low freon. I have the electronic a/c heat. Thanks Dave

If converted to 134 there is supposed to be a sticker installed.

If it has been converted to 134A it will have large quick disconnect style fittings similar to an air hose but larger in diameter. The original R12 service fittings are much smaller and threaded. Note that either style may have plastic caps so you may need to remove those to identify.
