Default 700R4 problems after rebuild

Hi all

New to this forum but it looks like there are some knolegable blokes on here that might be able to help me with my issues.....

Had my first go at rebuilding my 700R4 (its around a 92 model auto) but have a few issues with it and wondering if anyone has any advice at what to look for or what might be causing the problems before I start stripping it down again. Have had a look throught the forums but couldn't really find anything that covered the issues that I have.

Here are the symptoms
1. in drive - seems very sluggish in 1st and 2nd (like the brakes are draging) and takes off as soon as it hits 3rd (may even be taking off in 2nd???) 3rd, 4th and converter lockup seem good
2. manual 1st locks up and won't drive
3. manual 2nd is very sluggish (like the brakes are draging)

Any help on what to look at will be appreciated
thanks Ben

Shouldn't a 92 have a 4L60E?
If it is a 700R4 be sure you have your TV cable set correctly

its in a VP Holden commodore (in australia) VR and later commodores (1993 on) came out with the 4L60E over here
Have set the TV cable as per the manual + the are auto adjusting as well
It seems to shift smoothly and when it is suspose to
Was thinking that it maybe the seals passing on the input shaft and leaking past and applying 3,4 clutch pack in 1st, 2nd but not sure, don't know enough about these boxes and the porblems that they have

The 4l60E started in 94 over here. Good luck figuring out your tranny. I know a lot about cars, but what you are experiencing is why I won't go too deep into my tranny; The fear of going through a rebuild and the tranny not running right and having no clue of the next step. Others here have successfully rebuilt their 700s and I'm sure will soon chime in.

Yeah, lol... have rebuilt plenty of 3speed autos but the first time trying one of these.
Didn't want to pull it all back down and put it back together without an idea on where I may have gone wrong as there will be a fair chance that I will proberly do the same mistake again and not fix the problem
