94 Door Striker adjustment

The striker pin is in a slotted metal slide that has as much as 1/2" each way that it can move....but the hole in the fiber glass is just a hole...no room to move.
I had to do some repair on my passenger door jam and made mine so it did have a small slot to move in...covered with a painted fender washer that was cut down to fit in a recess so it was not standing on top of the fiber glass. Striker bolt/pin sits in the middle of that and looks factory...loosen it and it can slide a bit either way...But GM didn't seem interested when I tried to sell them the method in which to solve the problem...

But Jack's right. After going thru all that (only cause I had to repair that section of fiber glass anyway) next time I'd go directly to the source of the problem...the hinge pins. They wear...get loose, the door hangs down and misses the striker bolt. Or its too loose to pull the door in against the seals and hold it tight. Don;t take much.
You need 2 guys that can use both hands,. (not one to hold beer and the other to do discount buddy assisting) and a floor jack to support the weight of the door. That sucker is heavy...
There are countless gyrations the hinges can make once they are all loose, so don;t take them all out...just loosen a set to get one possible movement...try it then try another set. Otherwise you can get it AFU and end up worse than it was.. 2 hinges that can move in all 3 dimensions...3 axis, in/out, left/right, up/down, back, forth. There are even body shims to go under the hinges to push them off the chassis if necessary. It can be entertaining...but if I can do it then anyone can.
