I keep reading posts regarding head gasket, cracked blocks etc IRT coolant in the OIL. I have only found coolant in my oil once. It was a many years ago back before my high RPM days.
Any way the head gasket was perfect.
The problem was:
Its been long enough that I can chuckle about it now; I babied that engine and it didn't pay off hence, been beating its replacement like a 2 dollar mule.
Post your heinous grenade pictures

How long did you drive it like that? What did it sound like?
I had two cylinders that would stop firing when the engine got warmed up. Whole car would shake, but not terribly. I replaced all of the fuel injectors and that solved the problem.
Spring was Intact and still together with valve stem....
We believe something happend to the valve seat on the exhaust side.
Took a second or two of tap tap like loose rocker to steam plume from hell and motor lock up. No joke it was iiterally tap tap boom..
Car filled with steam, I thought I had a fire got out of car and water was pouring out of exhaust. I was in my summer whites, digging through the carnage....... Ended up buying new whites too.

Sorry was replying to the previous post when yours hit...
The engine hydrolocked if you look at the head you can see evidence of the water mix in every cylinder. I guess it got forced through the intake or threw the bottom.
click click boom......but quicker than it takes to read click click boom. But it happened merging onto a 80mph highway... so figure 35-50 revs per second....

My first guess would've been the head broke off the spark plug (wrong depth plug), but the damage looks too severe even for that. Inclusion/weak spot in the casting maybe?
