Hey everyone
yesterday I submitted a question concerning the pulley on my 89 auto coupe. It looks as though it's coming loose. a friend of mine told me the pulley is good, but I might need a new water pump because the shaft on mine could be bad...any imput?

Re: Water pump (akisana)
This is what I would do to check the pump. Remove belt from water pump pulley. Spin the pulley to see if the pulley is bent. You may leave the pulley on or you may remove it to check the movement off the water pump shaft. I would remove the pulley to see what the the seal looks like on the front of the water pump. Remove the pulley from the water pump. Grab the shaft from the front of the water pump - This is where the pulley was bolted too. If the shaft can move up and down or side to side, The pump is bad. If it is tight, The pump maybe OK. The shaft on the water pump may get movement when the water pump is warm or hot from running for awhile.
