Default Electrical experts needed

Can anyone tell me how the wires for the door locks are routed on an 86 model. I feel kind of stupid but I was trying to install a keyless entry on the car and crossed the wires, hence shorting something out. I have traced the short to somewhere in the dash and I really do not want to take the dash apart, I am more than willing to run new wires rather than tracing the old ones because I think that would be easier. I know that some GM vehicles have inline fuses for the door locks but my Haynes manual does not show anything like that. Any suggestions or websites that could offer help would be appreciated.

 If you didn't take the dash apart in the first place, I really don't think you shorted something out way behind the dash. Believe me, I have had it apart many times (the entire skeleton) and the mass bundle of wires makes movement (and thus shorting) pretty tough to do.

You said you crossed wires. Door power to direct ground? Fuse probably blew if that was the case.

Which color wires were you messing with and if you can remember, which wires crossed? Were you splicing/cutting at the door lock switch or the motor?

I was placing the relays just inside the driver's side door under the dash. I believe it was a blue wire and a black wire, but not sure about the black will have to look. The way I figured out it is inside the dash is I put an ohm meter on these two wires on both doors, one lead on each wire. When I tested the pass. side door according to the meter the two wires were shorted together going back into the car. I don't understand why it did not show up when I tested it from the drivers side because according to my Haynes manual diagram it is a direct connection, but then again I have seen the Haynes manual wrong more than once. I have replaced the door lock acuators so I know it is not just that, I figured after wasting my money and time on that I would try a post here.

thanks that was what I needed. Alot more simpler than my manual. One of these days I am going to buy a "real" shop manual from GM.
