Default Cam/Tuning the Crossfire

Its my understanding those proms are NLA.
So how the hell do you tune one of these if say you stuck a cam in it

Dont know anyone local and cant tune ecms myself.
Member wants to cam his crossfire- nothing radical just to pick up torque..

What are your experiences with camming the Xfire and tuning?
Gotta pass Ca smog.

Comp cams has some computer friendly grinds for the 305-350 engines. Might want to call Isky out your way and see if they have something like their 256 and 262 super cams that will pass Calif. smog. I ran a comp 252HE 206-206 110 lsa in a 305 87 Firebird that had to pass smog in Florida and that cam had a stone stock idle but had much more low and mid range than the stock factory cam. I would think there are some decent cams under 210* duration and on a 110-112 LSA that would give you better low speed torque than the stock 202-206 114 crossfire cam and still pass smog.

I'll give ya a bump. Ive been wondering the same thing myself. Been looking at some of comps thumper cams for EFI, and was wondering where I can get adequate fuel for it. I know the tb's can give upwards of a 1000cfm, (bored, and bigger injectors) but what about the info needed to get it! Maybe someone makes an aftermarket computer? Seems like the 84 is the most challenging to work on, of all the C4's. I bet Tom400cfi has an answer. h

Vetteoz does that computer have a reg OBD1 port like if the smog guy plugged in it would fit? If so that opens up cam options

know TBI is real sensitive to overlap so a lumpy cam is out....same with emissions. Know he wants a lumpy idle but not so sure its a great idea unless that truck computer makes it possible.

Picking the cam isnt the chore its how to tune.

Thanks!!

I have an '84 and putting 64 cc Dart heads and a 2040 cam. I will probably need some tuning and intend to go with the EBL Flash and the Ham board. I already have a ported intake and no Cat.

I will send the ECM to each of them and have both added. Not sure of my soldering skills. Is there any logic why I would have one installed before the other, such as testing? I am thinking the Ham first, then the EBL Flash.

Regards,
Ken

Sounds like the best bet in this case is to be conservative limit overlap and shoot for lift...torque like usual. I just dont see computer swaps self tuning etc happening just yet.

Truck ECU 1227747 is not a plug an play. Needs to be hammed. See crossfire diversified solutions for the "board". A 1228746 is a better idea. It supports IAT sensor.
