Default Another Cruise Control Problem '96

I checked the easy things, it seems that the switch is bad. When I turn it on and off I feel nothing engaging, vibrating, or making noise at the speed servo. So, is it the switch or the servo, where do I go to fix those things.

Check the grounds that connect to the top bolt of the bellhousing. I had one come loose after I did my clutch and it rendered the CC inoperable.

Someone else said maybe is it just a bad contact on the switch. Do I need to take the steering colume apart and disconnect the entire switch to see what is going on?

Do yourself a big favor and invest in the factory service manuals if you intend to work on these cars. They'll save you big time in the long run, especially when diagnosing electrical stuff, especially when you get into things that are hard to find, and non-returnable.

If you get the wiring diagram you should be able to find the wires in the connectors under the dash where they come out of the column. (Working under the dash on these is an adventure itself - hope you're flexible! Pull the seat and save yourself some pain...)

I would suggest looking at the brake and clutch switches first -- they get the most use and IMO are the more likely failure points. Not only can the fail, they can also get out of adjustment.

There's a lot of wiring on these cars. The manuals and a multimeter will save you a lot of time and money in the long run.

Good luck!

Thanks for the suggestion, I bought a little Hayes manual because I gave my last one away with my kast c4. I thought I could wing it because of my previous work but you forget the little things. I did the brake and clutch trick. Another website said to turn on rhe cruise and have your hand on the speed servo and see if it clicks, makes noise.

The problem troubleshooting the cruise control is the module
is in a poor location. (Below the glove box under the dash).

If you pull the multifunction stalk off at the steering column
there are four wires.
Green is the power wire.
With a ohm meter with switch set to On Green wire is shorted to Blue wire..
With Set switch pressed Green wire is shorted to Red wire.
With R/A switch pressed Green wire is shorted to Yellow wire.

Schematic is 2 pages.

Connector pin out at module.
