I recently replaced my IAC sensor, replaced all gaskets in the throttle body, and cleaned it. I did'nt remove the TPS or immerse the throttle body in any solvents. When I reassembled and installed everything, the car runs alot better, but it idles at about 970rpm in drive and 1300rpm in park. Sometimes it idles at 600rpm in drive and 750rpm in park. It does this off and on. Help!!! I'm getting ready to scream!! :mad
Re: 85 idling high-anybody else have this problem?! (H P Bushrod)
Disconnect the battery for about 10 minutes. And I would check the TPS voltage with the car off key on can't remember what wire but should be about .5 of a volt range.
Re: 85 idling high-anybody else have this problem?! (H P Bushrod)
The exact thing has happened to me after I cleaned my TB. my car has the same problem as yours, however I checked the TPS voltage and it was ok then I changed the IAC and set it and still my problem is there.I also checked for a vacum leak and found none. My auto Xray also shows nothing is amiss :cry
Re: 85 idling high-anybody else have this problem?! (H P Bushrod)
Get yourself a shop GM or Haynes (or BOTH) manual and start reading on how to set the IAC. There's a whole procedure to doing this. ALSO check to see if you have the correct IAC....the pintle design varies quite a bit. Good luck!
H P Bushrod - That is a great 'handle' LOL!!
