Fan control module overheats? '96 C4
I have removed the fan controller module from the fan air path
to keep the heat out of the interior.
Now the control module overheats and turns itself off.
This is probably a pulse width modulated fan motor driver.
It is on a large heat sink and is always too hot to touch at any fan speed setting.
This seems terribly inefficient.
A decent control module should have some setting that is off.
Is there a driver problem or just bad design?
Anyway, what is the solution to get the fan to work with the stock dash controls?
Bigger heat sink, different contol circuit, etc?
