Need help with flush
I just had the same experience and freaked out over it...(1 yr old water pump that cost as much as a tank of good gas!)
These things tend to trap and hold air pockets. Mine ran up to 170 degrees before the pump got a "bite" on the water and started circulating it again. I even had my water hose connected to a flush valve I have installed...and it refused to circulate. Once the air pocket is chased out it should be fine but DO burp it...rev it to suck water down when it starts to circulate, top off with rpm up, then cap it with rpm up. Then let it idle. It may take a couple hot/cold cycles to get it right..
The installation of a flushing valve is very helpful. Just add a T to a convenient place in a heater line. 1/4 ball valve, hose adaptor fitting...done.
