I don't know the answer yet but soon will.

This week I need to attend a constant "door ajar" light problem in the driver's door.

Your switch may be bad or the window mechnism may be grounding the harness lead, but you may just need readadjust it (don't confuse the interior light switch - like I did - with the door ajar switch - the one you want is mounted on the rear of the door). Mine was coming on too with the window down, but the window being up adds some stability to the door and with it down, there was just enough vibration to cause my out of adjustment switch to lose contact with the door frame and turn on the light. To check it open the door and press the plunger in with your hand. If the warning light goes out you can try to adjust it. It is actually a plunger within a plunger. The innermost plunger is a press fit with quite a bit of resistance built into it, but it does adjust. It's made this way to compensate for wear in the door seal. (I realized this after seeing a new one at the dealership). In any event, take a jeweler's screwdriver or something small and flat and pry the inner plunger out. As I recall, it comes out to about 3/8 of an inch. Once out, shut the door. If the resistance or fit is still good, it will adjust and hold at the correct position. Hopefully, your problem will be solved.
