ok, first off i have used the search feature and explored many threads both here and other sites,
I have a 95 vette. It has basic simple mods. Larger tb, lower thermostat, slp intake, shorty header ( i know, but previous owner couldnt afford lts ), also has colder plugs (prev owner used to have a 75 dry shot). It has a beefed up 4l60e and small stall.
I am looking for a good "budget" head and cam. I've looked into the lloyd elliot kits, but was curious if anyone had another suggestion.
I know that this will get some flack......but I am really sold on the AFR product. The more mods with their heads..seem to just get you better performance. And YES...there are other head manufactures out there that will perform well.
Just set your budget and get the best heads you can afford. Perhaps hold back and save up a little more to get the next level up.
I also like the Lingenfelter cams. I had the 74211 in my 85 that performed very well. Just be aware that before you start a project like this you need to be looking down the road.....like WHO or WHERE can I take the car to have the new combination tuned.
I am collecting parts for my 95 now. I have the GM LT4 intake sitting and ready. Next will be the AFR 195 heads, 1.6 RR....and down the road will be a cam with a block going the 383 route.
the car is near mint, all new interior with Iggee seats, suspension, brakes, etc. not wanting to go with bigger cubes. just looking to get it up on power.
I went with the CC306 from comp cams... I absolutely love where it makes power and it sounds DAMN good. CC503 is also another strong pre ground cam that makes good power. Both in my opinion will require head work and definitely a tune.
Thanks. Looks like I will lean towards the CC503 as it appears to be nitrous friendly. I will be using a nitrous outlet TB plate system with a 100 wet shot.
