If you have a laptop, download T/P RT ver5 here:
http://tunerpro.net/downloadApp.htm
It's very cheap at a $39 registration fee

Use the 32B for the XDF & ADS, available in post 2 here:
http://www.gearhead-efi.com/Fuel-Inj...hlight=1227165
(you'll need to convert the ADS into an ADX by going to "acquisition>import definition>from ADS")

Lastly, download your choice of .bin files depending on how your car is equipped from post 3 in the link above.

This combo will allow you to read codes, scan; and tune if you want to learn that.......... all for 39 bucks!

*************or********************

Again, if you have a laptop, you can simply download DM35x32 here:
http://www.ttspowersystems.com/DataM...ownloads2.html

*This option is more straightforward for a beginner but will not allow you to tune. It will also cost you $100 +/- after the first 20 free uses.

Note: Both options will require an ALDL cable be used as an interface with the laptop. It's the $50 version available here:
http://www.ttspowersystems.com/ALDL_cable.html

Clear as mud?

I have a laptop with Vista on it but you lost me about 2 seconds in then that file conversion part made me go blind...lol.....any of the handheld scanners on summit racing work for the average non-tuner layman for repair using error codes?

If you just want to read error codes, that functionality is built in to the car. It's free, so that's a pretty convincing argument, cost wise. Check out these links:

Yes there is OBD1 OTC is one of them. I just jump it with a paper clip and the flashes tell me what I need to know.

I bought a used Snap- on MT-2500 scanner from eBay. If your patient you can get one pretty cheap. I haven't used it yet but it gives you real time info on your sensors etc... And you can check/ clear codes.
