Anyone have any information, experience, power results from replacing the front Y-Pipe with pre-catalytic coverters, with one of these Y-Pipes with no cats?
Ecklers has a Dynomax and a no name.
Mid America has a couple, one is 2.25 another 2.5 diameter aluminized steel or stainless.
Corvette America and Corvette Central to.
Any comments on the fit and quality?
Anyone have any results in power from this change?
I'm not ready for headers yet (emissions tests here in Mass) and this looked like an easy change.
Just went thru emission test this month and CO2 and HCC were almost zero, so I think I could lose the pre cats and still pass (next test 2years from now).
thanks
I bought the front Y-pipe/hi-flo dynomax set from ecklers for $250. Everything fit fine. I had 114K miles on my car when I made the changed and DID notice a SOTP difference. Could have been due to them being partially clogged. I also had muffler eliminators on the car, made them sound even throatier/louder (just loud enough now) with the swap.
I bought the 2.5" mid america piece w/out the precats (used) and in addition to the other minor mods in my sig I gained over 3 tenths in the 1/4 :yesnod:
I bought the MAD one brand new (Aluminized for $180) and it fit just fine. Looks like any other exhaust piece that isn't ACTUAL stainless steel and mandrel bent.
BTW: With that motor...all I can say is DAMN!
