Default New dash cluster needed

Hi - I have an 86 with a dash cluster that has gone Kaputt! The speedo and temp guage does not work, because it is (apparantly) sunburned. Only the gas guage works. I do NOT want to replace the dash cluster with the same type that came in it new, nor do I want to spend over $750 to have mine rebuilt. I know there is a replacement available for approx. $1200. But I do not like the looks of the black & white guages. Is there anything else available? Or are the above my only 2 options? Thanks for any help. (What I am hoping to hear is that somebody has made a dash that LOOKS like the stock dash, but has been upgraded to 21st century technology)

I've seen quite a few change out their atari gauges for autometer style analog gauges. You are looking at 125-150 for a tach and 150-200 for a speedometer, plus whatever other gauges you want (volts, water, oil temp).

How long ago was that? Does it still work ok? About $750 is what I have heard. $269 sounds like a real deal in comparison! I just found him in google. His name is: Gary's Corvette's, and he still has a dash for $269!

where did you hear $750 ????

thats insane...
the avg cost to send in a cluster for repair/rebuild is $300. In fact, MOST of the Corvette parts & supply sources offer a flat out exchange for that price. You keep your odo to swap into the new cluster. Simple. You can also buy a used unit on fleabay.

You can also repair your at home if you own a soldering gun.

Kevin Taber charges $245 to rebuild the cluster PLUS $150 EACH if the LCDs are sunburned (like mine) There are 3 LCDs that is $695 plus shipping and insurance both ways. If the glass gets broken in transit that is another $100, so assuming that the PO will throw it if it is marked fragile - that totals almost $850! I agree it is insane! That is why I seek another way to go! Gary does not charge extra if your LCDs are sunburned, or if the glass gets broken, so I guess I will go with Gary, not Kevin. But I would still like to know if there is a PLUG IN dash cluster built to today's specs??? It MUST be plug in, because I am not re-wiring my dash!

I am seeking a PLUG-IN dash cluster. I don't want to do any re-wiring, or Walt Disneying (Mickey Mouseing) under my dash. So this dash (if it exists) needs be configured just like the stock dash. The one for $1200 is a plug-in (supposedly) but as already stated I do not like it.

I think this one is the same as the one I saw for $1200. I got some bad news for you. Instead of $700, they are $869! Plus $159 more if you want to use your cruise control! The diff betwen the 6 gauge and 8 gauge is the number of gauges you want. I, myself, can't have too many gauges!

If its just the polarization filter making it unreadable you can fix it yourself. Check out this how to video.

I checked into all the repair deals, what I liked about Garys Corvettes is he doesn't charge extra for LCD panels, one price for the deal, I did mine a year ago, and am very happy with it.

Or you can replace the LCD's yourself. I did all 3 and replaced the halogen bulbs with xenon. This is who I got mine from:
