Default Thinking about using nitrous, need advice please!

I am thinking about running a 75-125 shot on my vette. The system is from NOS, and I was thinking about getting the progressive controller too? What do I need? Do I need this? Do I need to change my fuel pump, I am going to buy the NGK plugs. When is it best to use the nitrous? I heard right after my trans shifts into 2nd? If I buy this kit what else do I need to do so I don't blow my motor and the whole system works properly? I also heard about people getting their air/fuel ratios checked? How I do I go about doing this? Im so clueless about nitrous, but Im just trying to learn everything, Thanks everyone

I have a 100 shot with no progressive controller. My kit works right off the TPS and kicks in at about 85% throttle. Basically, you will need an aux. fuel pump, and some sort of a cutoff. ie: window switch. You will also have to use an ignition box with a retard feature when the nitrous is kicked in. I used an MSD Digital6. As for plugs, with a 100 shot, my stock plugs were fine, but with larger shots, colder plugs are recommended.

The NOS system has an in-line fuel pump that will work fine.
What is posted above is good advise. Good luck.. :seeya

Thanks for the help, I think im going to get that NOS 75-125 shot, and get a better fuel pump and cut off? Im not too sure what that is, window switch? That doesn't come with the kit? Im so worried about blowing my engine, I don't have the moeny to rebuild it now but I could get nitrous instead and go just as fast.

I would pass on the nitrous if you can't afford to blow up your car. It's a real possibility even with a well tuned set-up.

If you can't afford a rebuild, then don't play with nitrous. Because they are certainly risk of blow up motor. there is no garrantee. I ran 150hp my car before, no problem. My motor was still in good health but I stroke it to 383c for forced induction. I took that risk because I knew I am going to rebuild anyway.

Obviously many of us on the bottle will dissagree that nitrous will damage your engine. If you treat it properly and install all of the safety features it does nothing more than add power..safely.. :yesnod: :p:
