What is the Flowmaster aluminised finish, does it last?
I'm looking at Corsa stainless steel vs. flowmaster cat back systems. What does the flowmaster aluminized finish consist of? And for those of you who have some miles on you system does it hold up well? I hate to spend the extra money for the Corsa but want something that will last.

I have to say the flowmaster aluminized silver finished mufflers dont appear to last very long when exposed to the elements of year round weather.
You will get alot of rusting around the welds and etc.
In fact,I had a flowmaster set that rusted out and broke at the weld and rear hanger studs so I got new ones again.(great muffler btw, sounds great) and before installing them new,I cleaned the surface really good and put 3 coats of high temp alminum color paint on them to try to resist corrosion.
A year later the rust was coming through.
Its not bad rust but enough to make you cranky, and need to respray the mufflers again under the car with spray paint to help keep them looking nice.Dont expect them to look great after a year or so.
If you have the money,SS is the way to go.
You wont be sorry and the money I spent on 2 sets of mufflers over time couldve got me one set of SS pipes.
:)

My advice is that you put some good quality zinc-paint first to the bare metal and then protect it with some heat paint. Zinc paint is great in corrosion resistance but it can't take much mechanical wear and needs protection.
I installed Walker rear Y-pipe and Dynomax Ultra Flow SS'. I got the seams welded and protected the Y-pipe and welds with the paints mentioned above. I have also done this for my other car and have good experiences.
Stainless will easily outlast unprotected (even alumized) steel pipes but SS pipes are much heavier though. With some work you can make the alumized pipes last a very long time.
