Default advice on motor

1996 c4 LT1, if one had about 7500.00 bucks cash to beef up or replace the lt1 for more pony's what would be best way to go. keeping in mind this is my DD, so not looking to give up to much driveability. I know gears are the best way to get more bang, but looking to start under the hood first.

THANKS FOR ANY HELP. PASTA..

I'll give you one opinion: Sell the 96 add the $7,500 and trade to to a late C5 or possibly an early C6.

Talk to TPI421Vette. He built my engine and I'm very happy with the results.

Lt4 hotcam and a few other goodies from someone familiar with LT1 and you will be near 400 hp for a couple grand

if you really did some looking, you could probably find a z06 you could get into... but yeah, add 7500 cash to a decent trade and you;re in late C5 range. easily.

for 7500 you can build a super strong stroker like ccumbr said that will eat most C5s.

but then you don;t get all the creature comforts of a new(er) Corvette..

The things I'd do for a new Z...2014.

A new Z to be picked up at lingenfelter in 4 months...

What are your goals with this car? What have you done to your 96 so far?

Don't discount what members are saying... they are nudging at valuing your money and not just throwing it away because it's sitting there.

I have $15K into my '95 with 115K miles (including all maintenance costs over 3 yrs) just from replacing/upgrading as needed, and I haven't done anything crazy like an LS swap or new heads/cam. I don't find that more power is necessarily what I need for more enjoyment as a daily driver... I rarely even push the LT1 with 95% of the driving under 2000RPM. To date, my favorite driveability upgrade was C5 front calipers/rotors with the DRM brake bias.
