Finally got the LT4 Hot cam into my 94 Corvette after fighting with the harmonic balancer for what seemed like hours.
I'm now in the process of changing out the rocker arms and valve springs. There where no intructions included with the rocker arms. The kit included new springs, valve keys, and valve spring shims. Do I need to replace the valve spring shims that are already on the valve (stock LT1)? The ones from the kit look exactly the same but maybe they are slightly thicker or thinner? If I do have to replace them is there a way to get the valve seal off with out damaging it?
Thanks for any help. Almost done with this project.
I have two different shim/locators that both came from chevy the thicker one is black and the thinner one is silver both are for the lt4 springs. The important part is the spring installed height which is set by using the correct thickness shim.
Mine just came with the one set. I'm going to just leave the stock ones on. When I had one of the springs off I measured the thickness with a micrometer and they are exactly the same thickness. Thanks for the help guys!
