I had my 1992 corvette coupe (176000 miles) out today for the first time this year, and when I was about to stop and put it in reverse to back in my driveway the clutch pedal went to the floor (it acted good all night). I was able to pull it in my garage. So I check the fluid level, seen it was empty and so I filled it up and pumped the clutch and the I check the level again and it's was empty again. I looked under the car and there was a puddle under the transmission area. I got under the car looking for the leak, the hose connection to the slave and the slave it self was looked good but I noticed the top of the heat shield on the driver side cat was covered in fluid and the clutch hose goes right over top of it and its really close to the shield. I also checked the master cylinder (which was replaced 2 years ago) and that looked good as well. I'm thinking its the clutch hose is leaking. And I'm thinking about replacing it with a flexible line. Any help or advice would be great!
Can you clean the whole area well with some degreaser and then take a look to pin point the leaking area? When I replaced the clutch slave I also replaced the hose from the MC to the slave, fairly cheap part.
the laws of coincidence are vague at best...1st drive after storage, ??? who knows why today. But, I'd do what George suggest, clean and get someone to push the pedal while you watch so you can ID the leak,. hoses are cheap and most parts stores or hyd shops can make one while you wait if its not in inventory.
I forget to mention this last night because it was late but I did see on the flexible part of the line, when my wife pushed the clutch pedal you could see a small air bubble expand when the pedal was pushed in and shrink to you couldn't see it when you left off the pedal. I think I'm just going to replace the line with a completely flexible line from eBay. Any thoughts on that?
i have a 1994 corvette, and the slave cylinder seemed to fail..the clutch would go 3/4 of the way to floor and barely engage clutch.. so i bought a new one... installed it and spent the day trying to bleed it ... the pedal goes to the floor and all the air seems to be out of the system. The master cylinder level has not changed...i put a hose on bleeder valve and used a clear jar with two inches of fluid in it... all the bubbles appeared to be gone.... anyone have any suggestions or tricks to bleeding this system? I also took the main hrydraulic line to the slave cylinder and put it in the jar of fluid to verify that the master cylinder was working, and it appeared to be.... just at a loss on this ...

If you bled it and the fluid is pull. Pump it a couple dozen times and see if it gets better. Make sure you have no leaks.

To the best of my knowledge the master cylinder to slave cylinder line IS flexible braided line. At least it is on my 93. Stock as far as I know, I've never changed it, I doubt the previous owners did.
