I have seen some threads on here regarding the same issue, however I have not come across a solution I could use. I have a 85 stock corvette. It was sitting for quite a while before I bought it and did not run. I did a complete tune up and drained the gas. Fuel pump was not getting a signal from the computer(no power). I replaced the computer with one from Ecklers Corvettte and the pump worked and I eventually was able to get it running. The car is running rich I have set the timing, rebuilt the injectors and changed all sensors. Even after I put in the new computer the check engine light still did not work. The bulb is new. Also I have the 4+# manual however the overdrive gears are not working as well. I figured this may be a grounding issue and have checked multiple connections including the location behind the drivers side cylinder head. All seem secure. I figured if I could get the check engine light to work I could get a diagnostic code on the rich running. Any help or suggestions would be appreciated!
fuel pump gets power from its relay...not the ECM.
FP only runs for 2 sec until engine fires and runs on its own..then it will run as needed. Not before.
if relay is bad the engine sends an alternate power source to the fp thru the oil pressure switch.
rich? if its been sitting the inj are bad. Replace. Try seafoam first. Run marvel mystery oil thru. You;ll end up replacing the inj.
Make sure the TPS is set right. MAF relays are good. Fuel pressure is close to 40 psi.
Thanks for the feedback.. I have replaced all the injectors and fuel pressure looks good. Was looking to get the check engine light help o narrow my issues.
