Cruise Control Switch Questions

The diagram in my service manual is confusing. It looks like circuit 83 "resume/accelerate input" is energized when the Cruise switch is in the "on" position and the circuit is broken when the switch is slide to R/A.
But the diagnostic seems to suggest that the the 83 (R/A) circuit is "made" in the R/A position.

Anybody know which is it?
Also how does one get the switch out. The manual says pull it. Is that all there is to it? One can just disconnect at connector C296 and just pull?
Also, the connector at C296 looks pretty bad. It should be making connections but the pins are not perfect. They look to be going into the socket ok. But still looks flimsy. I was thinking of replacing the switch and the harness between C296 and C235. I can see C296 obviously, but I have no idea where the harness between the two goes or where C235 is.
Has anyone replaced the switch and this harness?
There should be a connection from the R/A to Pin C
Yellow wire circuit 83 and not to On as shown in your
diagram.
The turn signal stalk snaps into the multifunction switch like
a ball and socket. Grasp the stalk and pull it away from the
steering column. When you reinstall it make sure it seats
so the wiper switch functions properly.
Page 8A 201-10 figure 29 shows connector C235
It appears to be on the right side/middle of the steering column.
