Default Stock or Mod?

Hey everyone!

I just picked up an 85 corvette in January. Should I keep my vette as is (100 percent stock) or should I mod it. I have done aftermarket electronics in my previous vehicle and think that the corvette would look and sound great with some modern additions. Also doing some actual performance mods on it would be a nice addition. But... I know the C4's are not exactly vintage vehicles and are not worth a ton of money but will they ever be a sought after collectible car? I would hate to devalue a car by modding it in the said ways. Let me know what you guys/gals think!

Mod it....

Base model C4s won't be worth big money any time, soon if ever.

I suggest that you enjoy it as an inexpensive starting point and do what makes you happy with it.

Just remember that you will not get your money back if you mod the car and then try and sell it. Do what you want with the car for YOUR enjoyment.

I mod'd my 85 and loved it.

Here, here. There will always be someone with a cleaner, more original C4; so make it what YOU want and enjoy it.

How much money you got? It takes cubic dollars to go fast. Cheaper if you want to rice it up and look fast. All depends if you want to demonstrate speed or advertise speed.

If you do the work yourself, you could get a good set of long tube headers, exhaust, save up for intake and a chip tune.

Mod

The C4's love lots of mod's, hey even the factory could not resist and modified the C4 by putting a quad cam LT5 engine

Callaway did a nice mod with the 88 sledgehammer 409kmh 254mph, Bugatti spent big bucks and many years to match it or beat it by the smallest of margin's

My 89 has very little left on it thats original, so I would have to go with the "Mod-it" crowd.... But, if you want to do it right it's going to take a good bit of money...Trust Me.......WW

Mod it.

C4 is probably never going to be a collector car. Gen 4 F Cars are worth more by a comfortable margin at this point (the C5 also will never be a collectors car either, watching the prices on those continue to drop like a rock every few months as we near the C7).

Lets cut the BS, shall we? You are asking because you think you want to mod it. If you even think it, you probably will end up doing it. My truck was supposed to get ONLY a program flash. Instead, it has got many other goodies. My 91 Firebird was supposed to be enough, well, the engine is in the Vette making 410 at the wheels.

COME TO THE DARK SIDE. YOU KNOW YOU WANT TO. SURRENDER YOUR SOUL AND MORE IMPORTANTLY, YOUR WALLET TO THE GODS OF MODS. YOU KNOW THIS TO BE TRUE.
