check engine not working
I am trying to pull any codes that I may have, using the ALDL plug, m problem is that it does not give any response, not even the initial 12 code, my question is how do you troubleshoot the check engine (error codes) system?

I'll assume that you grounded the proper pins and then turned the igition on. I wonder if someone pulled the bulb out on the SES light? If you just turn the igition on, the bulb should come on. If not the bulb is either missing or burned out.
Other than that, if you do not get a flashing 12, it usually means that the ECM is bad.
