Default Differential leak

I bought a 94 6 speed a few months ago and have been going through it and cleaning/ repairing things with information I have found mostly from the people here, wanted to say thanks.
My diff is definitely leaking I recently noticed, if it is coming from the cover, as it appears, can I remove the cover and repair it on the vehicle?
Thanks

I'd keep it filled constantly till fixed. Running out of fluid is BAD.

IIRC, you'd have to remove the pumpkin to get it done well.

It's much easier to manage if the entire differential is removed and then done nose/pinion down in a mount you can fashion or a pail. The surfaces are much easier to clean and you could seize the opportunity to check the condition of the rest. If it's leaking dead center at the botton center bolt it could be maybe a failed attempt at using the center rear lower bolt as a drain for it. Slim chance but worth checking! If that's the case and it's seaping around or at the bolt head a copper crush washer like a brake hose might be a fix "in the car"!

Thanks for the replys. I'll get a better look at it this weekend, guess it won't be the quick easy fix I was hoping for.
