My throttle body is sticking and screwing up my idle. I have cleaned the TB and it is better, but not great. I would like to replace my stock TB or get it rebuilt. I have 2 questions:
1. My '93 is stock except for an open lid TPIS air cleaner. Can I use a 52mm without any problems?
2. Where is the best place to buy a new TB? TPIS wants $280 exchange for a 52mm.
That's a good price for an L98 TB, not sure about one for LT1.
If you don't plan on further mods you might consider a good used one. If so contact Contemporary Corvette (link on my site); they vend new & used parts (they have a large Vette bone yard).
I was doing some flow calculations today on this very subject. What I came up with is that a 350 cu in engine turning 6000 RPM needs about
600 cfm of air. I've read that the stock LT1 48mm throttle body can flow
to 650 cfm It seems that there is no need to go to a bigger tb for this displacement - at least in theory.
Anyone out there with real flow bench numbers can confirm or refute this?
GEnerally the consensis is if you are runnign a stock LT1 your better served putting your money else where as the throttle body won't buy you much. However if you choose to buy one I'd suggest holley, I have a BBK is sticks... I wouldn't suggest them to anyone... The 52 mm will connect with no problems to your existing Stock air fileter hoses etc.
