Default does this seem like an outrageous setup for my 85

most specifically i am looking at the duration and the lift of the cam. are these feasible numbers for an arizona emmission car?
i got these numbers off this website for any reference points
http://www.sdpc2000.com/cart.asp?act...=1579&pid=9010
i am going to go back and do my homework on the cam, i want to compare this one against the info scorp gave me on the LPE219 cam, and see how big a diff it makes. (my compression will be slightly lower with about 9.8:1 with the setup i am choosing.)

Compression Ratio: 10.1:1
Duration @ .050" I/E: 234 / 242
Lift I/E: 0.575 / 0.575
Block: 4-Bolt Cast Iron, 1pc Seal
Crank: 3.480, Forged Steel
Heads cc: 64cc, Fast burn Aluminum

Not sure about Arizone emissions, but it look a little big for the sniffer and roller tests. I spoke at length with a tech at Comp Cams before deciding on my latest hydraulic roller cam grind. I ended up using a 230/238, .510/.540, 114 and it will be right on the money for making good power in my setup and passing emissions. It is right between the 305 and 306 Comp Cam grinds for LT1's. I know yours is an '85 and there are differences, but with that lift and duration you may be too big to pass without some interesting "emissions" tuning.

The Comp Cams tech had some kind of rating that took lift, duration, and lobe seperations into account to determine if the cam would be passable. There is a known cam that rated 61 on his scale that passed and the cam I chose rated a 60 so I went with it.

Looks interesting.

What intake are you looking at running? Looks like MR territory to me.

Has anyone run that much duration with a SR?

Are you planning on putting a supercharger on? Why are you keeping the compression ratio relativly low?

i am contemplating the super ram....but noworries suggests the stealth ram from holley!

i am keeping the compression that low so i can use 150-200 shot of juice on it when she is done :D

Just make sure you use some good quality forged bottom end components and you should be fine...a 150-200 shot is a serious punch!!

You need to find out what the lobe seperation is on that cam. It may have 108 or 106 lobe seperation (probably setup for a carb installation) and that will hurt both your chances at passing emmissions and it will certainly not help your nitrous any. For Nitrous on a fuel injected engine you want to look towards a higher lobe seperation, more like 114 or maybe as low as 112. If you are sticking with the stock intake, you may also want to lower the duration a bit as the stock TPI will not be able to flow enough air to support that much duration. You can make the same power with a smaller cam most likely. It has good lift on it though. A lot depends on your intake you plan to use though. I would suspect that the miniram would be a good intake for the cam you listed.
