Default ...well sum beach....Glock was RIGHT!!!

After pullin the rad and giving it it's first EXTERIOR cleaning in 8 years....the max temp i reached on the commute home the past 2 days is 192°F. And that's in HEAVY construction traffic, with temps in the upper 80s. That's a 30-35°F drop!

Thanks again for the help with gettin' that razza-frackin' shroud off! :D

How long did it take you to pull the cover and clean it out?
Was it hard?

I need to do this on mine also... :(

Made a big difference on mine also.... Temp doesn't go above 210 with the AC running, in heavy traffic..... use to run about 230........

How much crap was in there to clean out?????

It was a full afternoon to remove the shroud and rad....clean it good...and get it all put back together Mervs. But it is WELL worth the effort for the cooler temps. The ONLY "problem" is the 6 7mm screws (3 on each side) down the side of the shroud...out of reach for mortal men. I wound up cutting them things off from the inside. If you have a ground down 7mm socket, you MIGHT be able to get at the bottom one with a 9" extension and a universal joint socket.

I would plan on about 1 hour to pull it, and 1 hour to reinstall........ And about 1-8 hours to clean and straighten the fins (time depends on how many of the fins you have to straighten).

...yea....that 192°F was WITH the A/C blowin! :D

So far as the krap...i got about 2 plastic grocery bags of leafs, packing peanuts, paper....and something gooey i don't EVEN wanna know about!

But i was AMAZED at the amount of blockage IN the fins of the rad. I bet i wasn't getting 20% of the flow i'm getting now! MAJOR NASTY!!! :p:

Alchemist-

Did you try coming up from under the car to get those 3?? I found it much easier to do it this way.. I sat and looked at how to get those damn bolts off for about an hour.. got myself a 7mm ratcheting wrench.. and tried it from the bottom up.. was MUCH easier.. got em off in 20 mins. Took me 10 to get them back on.

Well done.

The crap that gets in front of the radiator certainly blocks it's ability to flow. Mine was quite bad. it never affected the way the car ran...but I am sure it wasn't helping anything.
